How to Change AirPod Name on iOS and Mac

If you want to rename Apple’s AirPods, you’ll need to know how to do it on iOS. Apple’s software covers AirPods, so you can change their name in iOS’s settings. However, Mac users can change their AirPod names by going to Bluetooth settings on their device. Once you’ve changed the name on iOS, you can change it on your Mac too.

If you’ve ever had trouble renaming your Apple AirPods, you’ll be happy to know that you can change them.

Apple’s earbuds are renamed by default

One common problem with Apple’s AirPods is that they revert to their default names when you put them back into their case, or switch to another device. While Apple has not stated why this happens, you can unpair your earphones and rest them while the problem persists.

To fix this problem, you should hold down the button on the back of the AirPods case. Hold down the button until the status light turns white, and then pair them again.

The rename option is also available for AirPods Pro. The process is similar for either device. You can change the name without connecting them to your computer; just tap the pencil icon and then hit “Rename” to rename your AirPods.

Alternatively, you can cancel the renaming process to keep your AirPods’ default name. However, you should be careful not to change the name of AirPods if you do not want to make your iPhone or iPad rename the device.

You can rename them

Renaming AirPods is one way to give them a new name. Renaming the AirPods will make them easier to identify.

You can also rename them to make it easier to connect them to your device.

However, you shouldn’t rename them at the same time, because Apple doesn’t allow users to use them simultaneously. But, if you really want to rename AirPods, you can follow a few easy steps to do it.

Open System Preferences. Click the Apple symbol in the top-left corner of your screen. Next, click Bluetooth.

Choose AirPods from the Bluetooth section. Then, click the “Rename” button near it.

After selecting “Rename,” be sure to delete the old name before renaming the AirPods. It should appear under “Devices.”

You can rename them on Android

AirPods aren’t the only wireless earpieces on the market today, so why not give them a new name? Android users can change the name of their AirPods by accessing the device’s settings. Here’s how.

Open the Settings app and navigate to the Connected devices section. Scroll down and find your AirPods.

Tap the Pencil icon next to the Device details header. Type in a new name for the earpieces, then tap the “Rename” button.

On Android, open the Bluetooth settings menu. The Bluetooth settings window will show the default AirPods name. To change it, tap the Options button on the top-right corner. You can also tap the touchpad icon to change the name.

If you’re ready to switch back to the default AirPods name, simply repeat steps 1 and 2.

You can rename them on Mac

Renaming AirPods on your Mac is simple. Go to System Preferences and look for Bluetooth. Select AirPods, then click the red X in the upper left corner.

In the name field, type the new name. Click OK when you’re done. AirPods will now be renamed to whatever you want. It should take you three minutes to change the name. If you’re unhappy with the default name, you can change it later.

First, make sure that your AirPods are connected to your Mac or iOS device. If they’re not, go to Settings, then Bluetooth. You’ll see a list of your AirPods.

Click the “i” icon on the right. Type the new name in the Name field and hit Done.

Repeat this process for the other devices. Once the AirPods are connected to your Mac, you’re ready to change their name.
